About

Student of biomedical engineering & research with experience in leadership positions in an association and a multidisciplinary student challenge team. I am constantly expanding my knowledge of design, programming, and machine learning, which teaches me creative problem-solving and autodidactic skills. I enjoy analysing and working on transdisciplinary projects. In my free time, I enjoy playing music and games and cooking with my friends.

Life scientist & biomedical engineer

I have a wide range of interests, from colloidal and in vitro sciences to biomedical technology, machine learning, and computer science. I am always looking for new challenges and further development opportunities.

Projects & Experience

Internship

Summary As a part of my master's degree, I was an intern at the Radboud UMC in Nijmegen. For this project, I worked on the analysis and improvement of ENDORISK, a Bayesian network for the diagnosis of lymph node metastasis in oncologic gynaecology. During my time we were able to discover significant findings, which are still to be published by the lead and myself at this moment.
The sanitised code, along with my thesis and presentation, can be found at github.com/allysprik/Internship_2024.

Summary The International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition is a worldwide synthetic biology competition for students. I was a part of the Wageningen University and Research team of 2022, for which we designed and developed a living diagnostic for colorectal cancer. In this project I developed the website, viewable at 2022.igem.wiki/wageningen-ur, and was lead of the design team. My research contribution was in the development of a multi-compartmental dynamic model of the colon and microbiome predicting the residence time of living diagnostics in the colon. This research was done in collaboration with the Systems and Synthetic Biology group at Wageningen University as my thesis.

Wageningen University & Research

Summary As a part of the curriculum of the University of Wageningen, I was part of a group of students who were able to consult a project of their choosing. The project I was part of was an exploration of the technological and market possibilities for an app that could support people in setting up and maintaining urban farming setups. This project aimed to support gaps in food availability and sustainability in urban areas.
